Espanyol sack Mauricio Pochettino

Espanyol have sacked manager Mauricio Pochettino following last night's 2-0 defeat at home to Getafe.

Los Pericos are currently rock-bottom of La Liga with just two wins in 13 games.

Pochettino, 40, took the job in 2009 following two spells as a player at the Estadi Cornella-El Prat.

"This afternoon the club and the coach have agreed by mutual consent to terminate the agreement that unites them," read a statement from the club.

It was the Argetine's first managerial post.
