Equatorial Guinea's Emilio Nsue apologises for crowd trouble during Ghana clash

Nsue apologises for AFCON crowd trouble

Equatorial Guinea striker Emilio Nsue has issued an apology after crowd trouble marred his country's Africa Cup of Nations semi-final clash with Ghana.

The Middlesbrough forward was left aghast after sections of the home support hurled missiles at the Ghana fans, forcing them to seek refuge on the pitch.

"Regarding the public and the way they acted," he told reporters. "I've never experienced that. I'd like to say sorry, it was something we've never experienced before."

Equatorial Guinea manager Esteban Becker was also quick to condemn the actions of the perpetrators, admitting that he was saddened by their behaviour.

"I am sad about the way the fans acted out there," he said.

Ghana won the game 3-0 and will face the Ivory Coast in the final.
