Wilshere: 'Oxlade-Chamberlain has role to play'

England midfielder Jack Wilshere believes that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will overcome his knee injury in time to play at the World Cup.

The Arsenal winger sustained the injury during England's warm-up friendly against Ecuador last week.

Oxlade-Chamberlain's participation in Brazil has been thrown into doubt, but Wilshere hopes that his club and international teammate can feature.

"Alex looks well," Goal.com quotes him as saying. "(On Monday) he was straight line running five days after getting a meniscus strain.

"It helps he's young because the body heals (quicker) when you're younger and what also helps is that he's got 24-hour treatment.

"Hopefully we can get him training over the next few days and get him ready for the tournament. He's got a great attitude and loves football."

England's first game of the tournament is against Italy in Manaus on Saturday.
