England boss Gareth Southgate to name World Cup squad on Wednesday

England boss Gareth Southgate will name his final squad for the World Cup next Wednesday.

England manager Gareth Southgate will name his squad for the World Cup next Wednesday.

The Three Lions boss will reveal who has made the 23-man roster for the finals in Russia on May 16, the Football Association has confirmed.

National team coaches have until June 4 to submit their final selections, but Southgate has chosen to reveal his initial picks early.

The England manager will name a number of "stand-by" selections in case injuries occur in the run-up to the tournament.

The Three Lions will play friendly matches against Nigeria and Costa Rica in early June to warm up for the World Cup.
