Wayne Rooney hails 'positive' England

Wayne Rooney has praised England for their positive approach during tonight's World Cup qualifying victory over Poland at Wembley.

The home side earned a 2-0 victory that booked their place at the World Cup finals next summer, and Rooney was delighted with how they performed on the night.

"A big part of our preparations was being patient. We knew they would come and make it tough," he told ITV Sport.

"We have always remained positive. We have had a great focus and belief.

"We have some fantastic young players in our team, with some great experience. It is a good blend, it is good times for England."

England finished top of their qualifying group with 22 points, one ahead of the Ukraine.
