Steven Gerrard: 'England have moved on from John Terry's international retirement'

Gerrard: 'England have moved on'

England captain Steven Gerrard has said that he and his teammates have "moved on" from John Terry's decision to retire from international football.

The Chelsea central defender quit playing for the Three Lions in September, claiming that his position was made "untenable" by the FA.

"I would agree to a certain extent that he is a big miss because he is a fantastic player who has been a fantastic servant to Chelsea and England," Gerrard is quoted as saying in Daily Mail.

"But we've all moved on from John's decision because we have to respect it and hopefully we've got other good players who will step in and do a good job as well, [Joleon] Lescott, [Gary] Cahill and [Phil] Jagielka etc.

"We are not short in that area and hope John is not missed too much."

England are in Warsaw on Tuesday for their 2014 World Cup qualifier against Poland in Group H.
