Sports Minister writes to FIFA over poppy ban

Sports minister Hugh Robertson has become the latest person to appeal to FIFA over their decision not to allow England players to wear poppies on their shirts during Saturday's friendly match with Spain.

Robertson has written a letter to football's governing body in the hope that they will alter their initial decision.

Earlier today the FA confirmed that they have also lodged an appeal with FIFA regarding their verdict.

The Scottish FA have confirmed that they intend to wear poppies on their training tops prior to their match with Cyprus, but they will wear their normal strip.
