Police expect friendly atmosphere at Republic of Ireland, England

Irish police say that they expect there to be a friendly atmosphere when Republic of Ireland meet England at the Aviva Stadium on Sunday.

Irish police have said that they do not expect any crowd trouble during England's friendly against Republic of Ireland tomorrow.

It was previously reported that the police are preparing for disturbances but they are now confident that they have enough officers on duty to combat any possible violence.

"There is absolutely no intelligence to indicate there is any hint of any organised violence surrounding this match," Garda Chief Superintendent Francis Clerkin told Sky Sports News.

"I'm not concerned there will be any organised trouble. Obviously, with a match of this size, there may be incidents. But I am quite happy we have significant numbers of uniformed guards who can deal with any incident that may arise."

FIFA have recently expressed concerns over anti-IRA chanting at England matches.
