Report: Harry Kane to become permanent England captain

Kane to become permanent England captain?

Gareth Southgate has reportedly decided that Harry Kane will get the England captaincy on a long-term basis.

The Tottenham Hotspur striker took the Three Lions armband in Saturday's 2-2 World Cup qualifying draw in Scotland and went on to score an injury-time equaliser.

According to The Sun, Southgate believes that Kane's personality and on-field leadership make him the outstanding candidate for the role.

The report, however, suggests that an announcement will not be made until next season as Southgate continues to be sensitive in his handling of incumbent skipper Wayne Rooney.

Since making his England debut in 2015, Kane has won 18 caps and scored six goals in his nation's shirt.
