England manager Roy Hodgson will take charge of the Under-21s for their match against Scotland next month.
The team are currently without a coach following Stuart Pearce's departure on July 18.
"There is an opportunity while the recruitment process goes on for me to work with this squad for this fixture, and it is something I very much wanted to do," Hodgson told the Football Association's official website.
The England Under-21s take on their Scotland counterparts at Bramall Lane on August 13.
