Gerrard hints at international retirement

England captain Steven Gerrard has suggested that he could retire from international football after the 2014 World Cup.

The 33-year-old is due to win his 108th cap for the Three Lions on Tuesday when he leads the team out at Wembley Stadium against Germany in a friendly.

Despite insisting that he is keen to play on as long as possible, Gerrard admits that he could be forced to quit playing for his country following next year's tournament in Brazil.

"I want to play football for as long as I can, but at times in your career you've got to listen to your body and you've got to assess the situation," he told reporters.

"I think it's going to be a case of going to Brazil, giving it my best and when the tournament is over I'll chat to the right people, the England manager, my family, and other important people who have helped me along the way, then I'll make the decision."

Gerrard made his debut for England back in 2000.
