Aaron Cresswell 'in dreamland' after receiving England call-up

West Ham United full-back Aaron Cresswell is "looking forward" to proving his worth to Gareth Southgate, as he aims to earn his first senior England cap.

Aaron Cresswell has claimed that being called up to the England squad so soon after returning to action with West Ham United is "the stuff dreams are made of".

The 26-year-old was drafted into the Three Lions' squad for games against Scotland and Spain over the next week as a potential replacement for Kyle Walker, who is struggling with a knock.

Cresswell missed the start of the Hammers' Premier League campaign due to an injury problem of his own, but was back in the first team for the trip to Crystal Palace last month where he made an instant impact.

An assist for the only goal of the game, before picking up two disappointing yellow cards in quick succession, has since been followed up by three more appearances under his belt in league and cup.

Ahead of the visit of Scotland to Wembley Stadium on Friday, Cresswell told Sky Sports News: "On the back of missing just one game for West Ham in two years, coming back from injury in three months, playing a few games and then getting called up to the national side is the stuff dreams are made of.

"When you start out playing football, everyone wants to represent their country. For me to do that would be a proud moment for me and my family. It's been fantastic. I'm delighted to be at St George's Park, with fantastic facilities. I've been here before with West Ham training a few times and I've enjoyed it, so hopefully that continues.

"I am looking forward to it. It's going to be a fantastic atmosphere I'm sure - one we are all looking forward to - and hopefully we can get the job done."

Cresswell, released by Liverpool as a teenager, has never previously been capped by England.
