Leighton Baines will continue to work hard for Everton to try to start more games for England.

Everton left-back Leighton Baines has admitted that he is doing everything he can on the pitch to force his way into the England set-up.

Baines started in England's last game against Ukraine, but is now likely to lose his spot to Ashley Cole against San Marino tomorrow night.

However, Baines has revealed that he is aware of the competition and said that he will continue to work hard for Everton.

"I've been trying to keep my form up at club level between the two international breaks," he told Everton's official website.

"The competition for places is just the way it is. It's something you just have to accept. You respect the players in the squad and the other players who are in your position that much that you know you may not play.

"All you can always do is do the best you can for your club and that's what I've been trying to do."

Baines has 11 caps and one goal for England.
