Oxlade-Chamberlain: 'Familiarity could be key'

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has expressed his belief that familiarity with his England teammates could be key to success in the future with the Three Lions.

The 21-year-old is one of five players from Arsenal to be included in Roy Hodgson's squad for their Euro 2016 qualifiers against San Marino and Estonia.

Oxlade-Chamberlain feels that playing alongside his teammates with the Gunners, as well as players he has moved through the England youth setup with, brings a level of comfort to the squad.

He told The Mirror: "There's a really nice feel to the squad and a really nice comforting feel. When you come away, you know everyone.

"It's quite a young squad and we're being led by senior pros as well and there's a lot of boys in the squad who I personally have played with coming up through the youth ranks.

"That does help as well and obviously the manager makes the unity, and the back-room staff makes sure we're all gelling together, and I just think it's a really nice feel around the squad at the moment."

England face Estonia in their second qualifying clash of the week on Sunday.
