Steven Gerrard in a "zone of frustration" after England's Euro 2012 exit

Gerrard in "zone of frustration"

England captain Steven Gerrard has revealed that he is in his own "zone of frustration" after his positive performances could not stop England being eliminated from Euro 2012.

Gerrard made several assists in England's run to the quarter-finals but the Liverpool midfielder has said that his own performances do not make up for the team's exit.

"I think performance-wise I am really satisfied with my own level that I played at. But it doesn't crack over the pain," Gerrard said.

"At the moment I am in a zone of frustration because we came so close to ending that hoodoo."

Gerrard scored England's opening penalty in last night's shoot-out with Italy.
