Report: Aston Villa in talks with Carlos Sanchez

Aston Villa are reportedly close to signing midfielder Carlos Sanchez from Elche.

The Colombian impressed for his club side last season, but drew interest from a wider audience after a solid World Cup for his country in Brazil.

A number of European clubs have been linked with a move, but according to the Daily Telegraph, Villa are confident of securing his signature this week.

An earlier report claimed that the 28-year-old, who made 30 La Liga appearances last season, has a release clause of just £4m.
