Derby County sign Ryan Shotton on loan

Derby County have signed Ryan Shotton on loan from Stoke City.

The 25-year-old, who can play across the defence as well in midfield, has moved to the Championship outfit for the remainder of this season.

However, it is understood that the deal also involves a future purchase option.

Derby boss Steve McClaren told the club's official website: "We're very pleased to welcome Ryan Shotton to Derby County.

"He is someone who we've had our eye on for a while and he will certainly strengthen our defensive options.

"He is big, strong and has a physical presence, as well as being a good footballer and having Premier League experience to his name."

Shotton signed professional terms with Stoke in 2007.
