Derby County sign left-back Michael Hoganson

Derby County have signed Michael Hoganson after he was released by Newcastle United.

The 18-year-old had joined the club on trial last month, and Derby manager Nigel Clough was pleased to conclude a deal to add Hoganson to his Rams squad.

Clough told the club's official website: "Primarily, we want him to be part of the Under-21 side.

"But we will also provide cover down the left-hand side for the first team."

Hoganson had rejected a move to Northampton earlier in the summer.
