Report: McClaren's Derby future in doubt

Steve McClaren will hold boardroom talks with Derby County chiefs later today, with his future at the club reportedly in doubt.

The ex-England manager is said to have turned down an approach from Newcastle United earlier this month, claiming that he is "100% committed" to finishing the job he started at the iPro Stadium.

However, following a poor run of form at the end of the season, which ultimately cost the Rams a place in the playoffs, the Daily Mail claims that the 54-year-old could now be shown the door in the coming days.

It is suggested that McClaren will arrive back from his holiday this afternoon in time for a rescheduled meeting with chief executive Sam Rush, with Newcastle and West Ham United both keeping a close eye on developments.

Burnley boss Sean Dyche and Real Madrid assistant Paul Clement are both in the running to take over at Derby should they swing the axe.
