Derby County boss Paul Clement relieved to earn late point

Derby County boss Paul Clement says that he was pleased that his side managed to rally to earn a late point in their Championship clash against Brighton & Hove Albion.

Derby County boss Paul Clement has revealed that he was relieved that his side earned a 2-2 draw in their Championship showdown against Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Rams went behind to a strike from James Wilson, but Bradley Johnson levelled the scores before the break.

However, Rajiv van La Parra fired the Seagulls ahead and looked to have secured the three points until Johnny Russell was brought down in the box by Gordon Greer and Chris Martin converted from the penalty spot to salvage a point for the home side.

Clement told BBC Sport: "We didn't deserve to lose the game, our start was very positive and then they produced a real moment of quality with a well taken goal against the run of play.

"A lot of credit goes to our players for not giving up, to keep going, and it was a cool finish from Chris under real pressure. They had a difficult game to today and our players afterwards felt like it was a loss.

"We have a good record at home and that's the standards we are working towards but overall it's a hard fought point and I would have been really disappointed if we had lost that game."

Derby are fourth in the standings following the draw.
