Steve McClaren calm on Derby County playoff chances

Derby County boss Steve McLaren has played down talk of reaching the Championship playoffs following today's 2-1 defeat at Bournemouth.

Jamie Ward's second-half goal helped the Rams to all three points at Dean Court, helping the visitors in seventh, just one point off Leeds United.

"It is hard to say if we are playoff material," PA quotes the 52-year-old as saying. "I said before the match we just go week to week and enjoy what we are doing.

"I do not look at the league table until March or April and just hope that we are still in contention in the top eight at that point so we can have a good end to the season."

Derby have won four of their last six games.
