Vancouver Whitecaps go down late at FC Dallas

Late goals from Mauro Alberto Diaz and Jair Benitez have seen FC Dallas triumph 3-1 over the Vancouver Whitecaps in Texas.

As a result, Schellas Hyndman's men now find themselves fourth in the MLS Western Conference, having leapfrogged the Portland Timbers and the Colorado Rapids.

Daigo Kobayashi gave the visitors the lead in the third minute of the game, but their joy soon turned to anguish as Je-Vaughn Watson levelled matters just four minutes later.

It looked to be staying that way until three minutes from time when Diaz volleyed home to send the fans into delirium.

Benitez then rubbed salt into Canadian wounds with an ambitious shot from near the halfway line, which caught goalkeeper David Ousted off his line.

The Whitecaps remain in seventh place, two points behind the Timbers.
