Tesho Akindele strike enough for Dallas win

Tesho Akindele scores the only goal of the game to fire Dallas to victory over Chivas USA in their MLS clash.

A second-half strike from Tesho Akindele was enough to guide Dallas to an away win over Chivas USA in their MLS clash.

The home side threatened early on and Marvin Chavez should have done better with his effort from just outside the box, but he scuffed his shot wide of the target when well placed.

Blas Perez tried to create something out of nothing for Dallas when he controlled the ball and smashed a volley at goal, but Dan Kennedy saved his effort with ease.

Chivas pressed late in the half and Leandro Barrera tested the handling ability of Raul Fernandez with a powerful shot which the keeper did well to hold.

In the second half, Dallas took the lead in the 49th minute when Fabian Castillo did brilliantly to weave his way into the box after playing a one-two with Perez. The midfielder then slid the ball to Akindele to slot an effort into the net from close range.

Akindele nearly returned the favour to Castillo as he played a pinpoint through-ball to the midfielder, but Kennedy rushed off his line to block the poked shot with his body.

The home side should have found an equaliser when Ashira Kaji raided down the right and lifted a cross into the box for the unmarked Erick Torres, but he could only power his header over the bar.

Chivas pressed late on but couldn't find a breakthrough as the visitors held out for the victory.
