Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew: 'Bristol City move up to Dwight Gayle'

Pardew: 'Bristol City move up to Gayle'

Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew has said that Dwight Gayle must decide whether he wants to leave the club to join Bristol City.

Palace have accepted a bid, believed to be around the £6m mark, for the striker, but he is reportedly unsure if he wants to drop down to the Championship.

Speaking at a press conference this morning, Pardew said that Gayle was free to leave and that the decision was his.

"I've talked to Dwight. He was a little upset last year, but it can be difficult to fit him into the way I play. He has 20 goals in him," said Pardew.

"He came to me at the start of the year and expressed a desire to move. A club has come in and now it's his decision.

"Dwight can play in the Premier League, for sure. Having said that, Bristol City are a great club, with momentum. The decision is his."

Gayle, 24, joined Palace from Peterborough United on a four-year deal in 2013 and has scored 18 goals in 54 appearances for the Eagles.
