Wayne Routledge ready for Crystal Palace return

Swansea City winger Wayne Routledge admits that he is excited to be returning to former club Crystal Palace for the first time since his departure in 2005.

Swansea City winger Wayne Routledge has revealed that it will "feel special" if he features against former club Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Routledge has yet to play at Selhurst Park since he left the club in 2005, and the former Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa man is excited about the prospect of playing against the Eagles.

The 28-year-old told the South Wales Evening Post: "This will be the first time that I actually get to go to play there since I left. That's just because of the way my career path has gone and how Palace have done.

"Now it just so happens that it's finally lined up so I can get to go back for the first time. It is going to be special for me, knowing that I get the chance to play somewhere where it all began for me.

"Hopefully I can be involved and we can get a good result, but for me to go back makes this a special occasion."

Routledge scored 10 goals in 123 appearances for Palace.
