Zoumana Bakayogo pens one-year extension at Crewe Alexandra

Ex-Leicester defender extends Crewe deal

Crewe Alexandra defender Zoumana Bakayogo has agreed a deal to extend his Gresty Road stay for an additional season, with an option of a further year.

The 29-year-old former Leicester City, Millwall and Tranmere Rovers left-back originally signed for the Alex in January on a short-term deal.

Despite doubts over his fitness, the Paris-born former Ivory Coast youth international ended up making 22 appearances for the Alex, convincing the League Two outfit to offer him a new deal.

Bakayogo told the club's official website: "I think my experience will help the young players.

"League Two will be tough but we will be ready. We have to make sure we all work hard as a team to have a better season."

Bakayogo's re-signing follows the capture of experienced striker Ryan Lowe, who has returned to the club on a free transfer from Bury.
