Crawley boss Gregory thought about resigning

John Gregory has revealed that he overcame doubts about his future to stay on as Crawley Town manager.

The 60-year-old considered his position over the weekend after a 1-1 draw with Crewe Alexandra left them with just one victory from six matches.

However, Gregory has decided that he is the right man to get the Reds back to winning ways, starting with their FA Cup first-round tie at Yeovil Town on Saturday.

"I was lower than a snake's belly at the weekend," he told the club website. "I had a bit of a strop after the match, I think it's because I care so much.

"But I went away on Sunday and spoke to one or two people and by Monday morning I was a lot better.

"I picked myself up, as you do, I came into work, I've got a smile on my face and I'm getting ready for the FA Cup this weekend."

Former Aston Villa and Derby County boss Gregory took over at Crawley, who are 15th in the League One table, in December 2013.
