Bolton Wanderers crash out of the League Cup following a 2-1 defeat to Crawley Town in the second round.

Bolton Wanderers have crashed out of the League Cup following a 2-1 defeat to Crawley Town in the second round away from home on Tuesday.

Owen Coyle's side were in the lead for much of the game at the Broadfield Stadium but conceded two late goals to bow out of the competition.

Bolton went ahead midway through the first half when Benik Afobe scored from the centre of the home side's penalty box.

It stayed 1-0 to the Championship side until the 80th minute, when Billy Clarke equalised for Crawley with a right-footed shot from 20 yards.

League One hosts scored the winner in the second minute of injury time as Nicholas Ajose headed home from inside the Bolton 18-yard box.
