West Ham 'hold talks with Reims over Ekitike move'

West Ham United are reportedly interested in signing Reims striker Hugo Ekitike this month.

The 19-year-old has been a standout performer for the Ligue 1 outfit this season, scoring eight goals and registering four assists in 20 appearances across all competitions.

Newcastle United were believed to have identified the Frenchman as a potential target earlier in the window, while Chelsea have also been credited with an interest.

However, Sky Sports News reports that the Hammers are now in talks with Reims over signing Ekitike before Monday's 11pm deadline.

The report adds that Reims are demanding a fee in excess of €30m (£24.9m) for the striker, who still has two-and-a-half years remaining on his contract.

West Ham manager David Moyes is keen to bolster his squad with attacking options, to provide more competition for Michail Antonio, who is their only recognised number nine.
