Jose Mourinho: 'Mohamed Salah doesn't belong at Chelsea'

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho confirms that Mohamed Salah will leave the club by revealing that the 23-year-old doesn't "belong" with his squad.

Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Mohamed Salah will leave Chelsea after claiming that the winger does not "belong" at Stamford Bridge.

The Egypt international, 23, spent the second half of last season on loan with Fiorentina, who had claimed that a permanent deal was in the pipeline.

However, Salah reportedly had a change of heart late on in negotiations, and today it was reported that Chelsea's lawyers are negotiating a settlement with La Viola over the failed switch.

Speaking to reporters following the pre-season penalty shootout win over Paris Saint-Germain, Mourinho said: "He doesn't belong to my squad and he's not staying here.

"The important thing is that he plays like he did at Fiorentina, so [I'm] happy with him going on a loan. Italian football is difficult football to play, especially for attacking players. So if it's not Fiorentina it's Roma or Inter or Juve - I don't know. Maybe he has a loan.

"He's a good boy and a good player. He needs more top-level football so I'm happy with any decision him and the club make."

Salah, whose contract expires in 2019, joined the Blues from Basel in January 2014.
