Christensen signs new Chelsea contract

Andreas Christensen has signed a new four-and-a-half-year contract with Chelsea.

The 21-year-old defender has impressed for Antonio Conte's side this season, making 22 appearances so far.

Since returning from German club Borussia Monchengladbach, where he spent two seasons on loan, Christensen has established himself in Chelsea's three-man defence at the expense of David Luiz.

The new deal will keep the Denmark international at Stamford Bridge until 2022, after initially signing with the Blues in 2012.

"It feels really good to sign a new contract and I'm just happy to be committed to Chelsea for the future," Christensen told the club website.

"I've played a lot of games, I'm enjoying it at the club and everything is working well."

Christensen has made a total of 25 first-team appearances for Chelsea since his switch from Danish club Brondby five-and-a-half years ago.
