Chelsea target Liverpool midfielder Raul Meireles

Chelsea are contemplating a bid for Liverpool midfielder Raul Meireles.

The 28-year-old, who moved to Liverpool last season from FC Porto, is reportedly open to a move away from Anfield after the Reds invested in midfielders Charlie Adam, Stewart Downing and Jordan Henderson this summer.

While Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas is prepared to consider a bid for the Portuguese international, the Reds want close to £12m, according to the Daily Mail.

Meanwhile, Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has hinted that Blues target Luka Modric may leave White Hart Lane this summer.
