The father of Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso suggests that the Spaniard could return to Serie A in the future.

The father of Marcos Alonso has hinted that the Chelsea defender could spend another period in Italy later in his career.

Despite netting a decisive goal against Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend, Alonso is currently being linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge.

The Blues signed the 29-year-old after he had spent a three-year stint at Fiorentina, and father Marcos Alonso Pena has talked up the possibility of a return to Serie A for the Spaniard.

Speaking to Calciomercato, Pena said: "He always talks about his legendary three years in Florence, says that Serie A is a beautiful championship and continues to be very close to Italy because he has many friends there. He has a very good memory."

Inter Milan - managed by Alonso's former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte - have been credited with an interest in the left-sided player, who may cost £25m.
