Goals from David Luiz, Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard gave Chelsea a 3-0 win over Bolton.

Chelsea returned to winning ways in the Premier League with a 3-0 victory over Bolton on Saturday afternoon.

The Blues started the match in confident fashion and Daniel Sturridge so nearly broke the deadlock after five minutes when he advanced on goal, but his effort was pushed away by Adam Bogdan.

Michael Essien was next to go close for Chelsea, but his long-range strike drifted over the bar, before Didier Drogba brought the best out of Bogdan after 19 minutes.

It was the home side who continued to dominate possession in the early stages without ever really threatening to open the scoring. Sturridge remained their biggest threat, coming close twice late in the half, but Bolton held on.

The home side did not have to wait long in the second period to open the scoring, however, and it came just two minutes into the half when David Luiz produced a fine finish into the bottom corner.

Chelsea twice struck the woodwork in quick succession through Luiz and Drogba as they attempted to extend their lead, with Bolton struggling to stem the flow.

The home side did eventually find a second after 61 minutes, when Drogba headed home a Frank Lampard corner.

Lampard got in on the act after 79 minutes, adding Chelsea's third of the afternoon after good work from Juan Mata.

Chances were few and far between for Bolton on a difficult afternoon for Owen Coyle's side, with a late Gretar Steinsson effort their best chance of the match.

Chelsea will look to continue their winning run when they travel to West Brom next Saturday, while Bolton travel to Manchester City.
