Terry considers England retirement?

John Terry is reportedly considering whether to call time on his England career following the Football Association's decision to axe the Chelsea defender from the Three Lions captaincy.

The English governing body this morning confirmed that the 31-year-old was stripped of the captain's armband pending a July court trial over charges of racially abusing Queens Park Rangers defender Anton Ferdinand.

It is believed that the centre-back is angry at the FA's decision and is pondering whether to quit the national team altogether, according to The Mirror.

The FA maintained that manager Fabio Capello is permitted to include Terry in the squad for the European Championships in the summer.

Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard is currently the favourite to replace the defender as England captain.
