Real Madrid will reportedly consider appointing Rafael Benitez as the club's new manager in the summer if Jose Mourinho decides to leave.

Real Madrid have reportedly outlined a move for Chelsea interim manager Rafael Benitez if the club's current boss Jose Mourinho decides to leave at the end of the season.

Rumours have been rumbling over the possible departure of Mourinho following reports that the Portuguese coach has had a number of disagreements with the club's hierarchy and a few of his players.

While Benitez is believed to be fully focused on the job at hand at Stamford Bridge, it is understood that the Spaniard has been informed by third-party sources that he will be a contender for the job at the Bernabeu, according to The Telegraph.

Benitez could still be given the permanent role at the West London club but reports have claimed that the prospect is unlikely due to the continuous discontent from the club's supporters.
