Chelsea midfielder Jorginho says that his team "need to be more clinical" having lost 1-0 at home to West Ham United on Saturday.

Chelsea midfielder Jorginho has insisted that his team "need to be more clinical" having suffered a 1-0 home defeat to West Ham United on Saturday afternoon.

Aaron Cresswell scored the only goal of the match at Stamford Bridge as the Hammers, who were on an eight-game winless run in all competitions, secured all three points.

Jorginho admitted that tiredness may have contributed to the defeat following the team's exertions against Valencia in the Champions League, but the Italy international was frustrated that his team were unable to take the opportunities that arrived against Manuel Pellegrini's side.

"Maybe [tiredness played a part], but we created some chances but didn't score. That's the problem," Jorginho told BBC Sport. "I think we were not clinical, we need to be more clinical when we create the chances. We weren't and then we conceded. Then it is difficult."

Chelsea have now lost four of their 14 Premier League matches this season, although they are still six points clear of fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur in fourth position.

Next up for Frank Lampard's side is a home game against Aston Villa on Wednesday night.
