Next Chelsea manager: Fulham boss Marco Silva delivers response to Blues talk

Fulham boss Silva delivers response to Chelsea talk

Fulham manager Marco Silva has attempt to shut down speculation linking him with the vacant position at Chelsea.

Since Liam Rosenior was sacked on Wednesday evening, a wide array of candidates have been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.

Former midfielder Cesc Fabregas is among those to have publicly commented on the developments, amid the Como president having seemingly given the green light for the Spaniard to take any opportunity at the Premier League club.

Silva is another candidate for the position, a consequence of his contract at Craven Cottage ending in the summer.

Despite the increasing possibility of taking a new challenge after five years at Fulham, Silva refused to entertain questions about his future.

Silva dismisses Chelsea speculation

That is despite acknowledging that discussions with the Fulham hierarchy have taken place behind the scenes.

As quoted by The Standard, the 48-year-old said: "Why is it different this week? It is not at all.

“It is the same and the same answer that I said to you already last week, it is the same. I will not make, every single week, comments about [my future].

"When something comes new, we are going to tell from ourselves, myself and the club.

"Everything what I need, or the club needs to do with me is going to be between me and the club.”

Why Silva is a realistic Chelsea candidate

While many Chelsea fans will be hoping for and anticipating a higher-profile name than Silva, that is not to say that the Chelsea owners will not consider him.

Most importantly, he possesses the Premier League experience that BlueCo are seemingly craving, while he is also approaching nine-and-a-half years in English football.

Silva is also seemingly eager to test himself at a bigger club than Fulham, with their rivalry unlikely to stop him considering any offers.

Furthermore, he is available. Chelsea chiefs may be against paying out more compensation to acquire the services of a manager when they have shelled out astronomical fees when parting with previous head coaches.
