Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte will reportedly consider his future at the club if they miss out on the signing of Everton forward Romelu Lukaku.

Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte is reportedly considering his future at Stamford Bridge after it emerged that Manchester United were close to signing Everton forward Romelu Lukaku.

On Thursday, it was claimed that United had agreed the £75m transfer of the Belgian international, who netted 25 goals in the Premier League last season.

Lukaku remains Conte's primary attacking target this summer and Chelsea are likely to try to make another bid for their former striker, and according to The Mirror, it is a deal which could have ramifications.

It has been claimed that Conte is growing increasingly frustrated having failed to make any high-profile signings ahead of next season, with goalkeeper Willy Caballero the only arrival on a free transfer.

Conte is desperate to sign players who can perform at centre-back, wing-back and in central midfield, but Lukaku had been deemed a high-priority acquisition with Diego Costa having already been told that he is not in the Italian's plans.

Antonio Rudiger, Alex Sandro and Tiemoue Bakayoko have all been linked with the Blues but as of yet, the completion of any deal does not look imminent and it has been suggested that Conte will contemplate walking away from the West Londoners if they do not make the breakthrough in the transfer market.
