Chelsea given Club World Cup bye

European champions Chelsea have been informed that they will enter December's Club World Cup at the semi-final stage.

Only seven teams enter the competition, which is made up of six continental champions plus the winners of the Japanese J-League.

The quarter-final draw was made this morning in Zurich, where it was revealed that the Blues will not enter until the final four.

They will take on either the winners of the ongoing Asian Champions League, or Mexican outfit CF Monterrey for a place in the final.

That match will take place on Thursday, December 13.
