Chelsea have been knocked back in their plans to build a new stadium at Battersea power station after failing to secure the land.
It has emerged that a joint bid put forward by two Malaysian companies SP Setia and Sime Darby has been successful in claiming the 39-acre site in Wandsworth.
It is believed that up to 15 different parties lodged bids for the landmark, including the Champions League winners, who submitted their offer for the land last month.
The North London outfit were determined to secure the site but will have to go back to square one in their hunt for a new ground.
