Sports Mole previews the League Cup third round clash between Chelsea and Wolverhampton Wanderers at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea welcome Championship club Wolverhampton Wanderers to Stamford Bridge on Tuesday in the third round of the League Cup.

Having already missed two chances to secure silverware this season, Chelsea will certainly not take this competition lightly. The Blues have started the league campaign in solid form – currently top of the pile – and they opened their Champions League campaign with a 2-2 draw against Juventus.

Wolves, meanwhile, currently sit in fifth spot in the Championship having won their last three matches. They advanced to this stage of the competition with a 3-1 win over Northampton Town in round two, but they have not won the League Cup since 1974.

Both sides are expected to name strong teams for the encounter, but the likes of Daniel Sturridge, Oriol Romeu, Ryan Bertrand and Victor Moses will start for the home side. Wolves, meanwhile, could turn to Bjorn Sigurdarson in attack alongside Frank Nouble.

Recent form:

Chelsea: WWLDDW
Wolves: DWLWWW

Possible lineups:

Chelsea: Turnbull; Azpilicueta, Luiz, Cahill, Bertrand; Mikel, Romeu; Moses, Oscar, Hazard; Sturridge

Wolves: De Vries; Foley, Stearman, Johnson, Edwards; Boukari, Hunt, Doumbia, Sako; Nouble, Sigurdarson

Sports Mole says: 3-0
