Chelsea team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Liverpool

Chelsea injury, suspension list vs. Liverpool

Chelsea go in search of their ninth FA Cup crown when Liverpool await them at Wembley for the 2021-22 final on Saturday afternoon.

The Blues lost out to Arsenal and Leicester City in the 2020 and 2021 finals respectively and cruised past Crystal Palace 2-0 in the semi-finals to advance to the showpiece event.

Thomas Tuchel's side also cemented their grip on third place in the Premier League table with a 3-0 success over Leeds United on Wednesday, but the Blues are not without their fitness concerns.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up all of Chelsea's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the final.

Mateo Kovacic

Status: Major doubt Type of injury: Ankle Possible return date: May 14 (vs. Liverpool)

Midfielder Mateo Kovacic was on the receiving end of a shocking challenge from Daniel James in the win over Leeds and had to come off on the 30-minute mark. Tuchel admitted after the game that the Croatian's ankle "did not look good" having previously come off in the FA Cup semi-final over Palace with an issue on the same side, so he is unlikely to be passed fit for the final.

N'Golo Kante

Status: Minor doubt Type of injury: Unspecified Possible return date: May 14 (vs. Liverpool)

N'Golo Kante was "fighting" to make the cut for the win over Leeds but was ultimately left out of the squad. The Frenchman was unlikely to be risked with the final in mind anyway, and Tuchel will hope to have him back at his disposal for Saturday.

Callum Hudson-Odoi

Status: Out Type of injury: Achilles Possible return date: Unknown

Callum Hudson-Odoi remains on the sidelines with a particularly troublesome Achilles problem, and the 21-year-old is at risk of missing the remainder of the season.

Ben Chilwell

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: Unknown

Tuchel recently revealed that Ben Chilwell would step up his recovery from knee surgery by joining in with the youth teams' training sessions, but the left-back is still not scheduled to rejoin first-team training until the end of the campaign.

CHELSEA'S SUSPENSION LIST

Chelsea have no players suspended for the final.
