Chelsea defender David Luiz insists that Europa League success and a top-four finish in the Premier League can help the Blues save their season.

Chelsea defender David Luiz has insisted that his side can bounce back from last weekend's FA Cup exit at the hands of Manchester City to enjoy a successful season.

The Blues are still in with a chance of silverware after reaching the Europa League semi-finals, where they will face FC Basel.

With the fight on to secure a top-four finish in the Premier League coupled with European aspirations, the Brazilian believes that achieving those targets would represent a strong campaign.

He told The Guardian: "There has been difficult competition and this season we wanted to win everything. Now we cannot win the league but we can still stay in a good position and win another European title.

"That is what we will work for. If we win the Europa League and get to play the Champions League next year, of course it's a success. There are some big teams in Europe who won't be winning titles this year, for sure, so of course it would be a success.

"What happened against City is disappointing but we can still take positive things from the game. I thought we did many, many positive things on the pitch. But when you play for a big club, you need to forget the last game and think about the future."

Rafael Benitez's side are back in Premier League action tomorrow night with a West London derby against Fulham at Craven Cottage.
