Fernando Torres sits out Chelsea training

Fernando Torres has missed training ahead of Chelsea's Champions League encounter at home to Schalke 04 on Wednesday.

The Spanish striker was forced off with a muscle problem during the Blues' 2-0 defeat at Newcastle United in the Premier League on Saturday.

Torres, 29, is now expected to be sidelined for the Group E clash against the German outfit at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea, who currently top the standings on goal difference, can take a big step towards the last 16 of the competition with a win on Wednesday.

Torres scored twice in the reverse fixture two weeks ago as Jose Mourinho's side earned a comfortable 3-0 victory at the Veltins-Arena.
