Real Madrid's Eden Hazard passed fit for Chelsea reunion

Eden Hazard passed fit for Chelsea reunion

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has confirmed that Eden Hazard is fit and raring to go for Tuesday's Champions League semi-final first leg with Chelsea.

The 30-year-old has been bedevilled by injuries ever since making the switch to the Bernabeu from Stamford Bridge in 2019, and there were fears that his latest muscular problem would prevent him from facing his former club this week.

However, Hazard came through a 13-minute cameo against Real Betis in La Liga unscathed, and Zidane has revealed that the winger will be fine to renew hostilities with the Blues in midweek.

Speaking to reporters at his pre-match press conference, Zidane said: "He played 15-20 minutes the other day and was quite good.

"The most important thing is that he didn't feel anything after about his problem. He is happy because he is going to contribute to the team a lot."

Hazard has made just 15 appearances across all competitions in the 2020-21 campaign, scoring two goals against Huesca and Alaves in the top flight.

On the other hand, Zidane conceded that Ferland Mendy would not be passed fit for the first leg, and the left-back joins Federico Valverde, Sergio Ramos and Lucas Vazquez on the sidelines.
