Chelsea named European club of the year

Chelsea have been named European club of the year following their Champions League success last season.

Roberto Di Matteo's side have been rewarded by the European Club Association after beating Bayern Munich in the final in May.

According to a statement, they have been "recognised for their outstanding achievement during the 2011-12 season on a European and domestic level".

The Blues are the only side in the Premier League to win all of their league matches thus far this season.
