Chelsea's Gary Cahill hopes to ignore "noise" of Paris Saint-Germain support

Cahill hopes to ignore PSG "noise"

Chelsea defender Gary Cahill has urged his teammates to keep their "focus" and ignore the "noise level" that will be ringing around Parc des Princes when they face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League this evening.

Jose Mourinho's side have travelled to France for the first leg of their last-16 clash against the Ligue 1 giants, but it is unclear whether Cahill will start the game.

The England international has been named in the first XI just once in the last four fixtures in all competitions and is expected to battle Kurt Zouma for a place next to skipper John Terry in the defence tonight.

"You need to try to keep your focus, try to be mentally strong on what you're doing," the Daily Mail quotes Cahill as saying. "Sometimes its difficult, especially in the first 15 or 20 minutes because the noise level is unbelievable at times.

"I try not to be on the bench as much as I possibly can but when I am, [the fans] are really close and you can hear everything, whether it's good or bad."

Chelsea beat PSG last season in the Champions League to secure a place in the semi-finals.
