Preview: Charlton Athletic vs. Rotherham United

Charlton vs. Rotherham

After finally being granted a work permit to officially take charge of Charlton Athletic, Guy Luzon watched his side take a point with a battling display last weekend.

A goalless draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux came just a week after a 5-0 thrashing at the hands of Watford, and Charlton fans will be hopeful that the result is the start of an impressive run of form.

Bringing a run of four successive losses to an end was vital for Luzon, but building on that point is the big challenge as the Addicks look to steer clear of the relegation zone.

A promising start to the campaign under Bob Peeters has quickly been forgotten, and Charlton supporters are fully aware that their side are locked in a relegation battle.

If the bottom three do get cut adrift, Charlton can afford to look up, but until then results are all that matters, and that continues with Saturday's visit of Rotherham United.

There was good news for the Addicks this week as they completed the signing of Belgian midfielder Christophe Lepoint, who becomes the club's fifth arrival of the transfer window.

Good news has been difficult to come by for Rotherham this season, but the squad received a big boost on Tuesday as they moved five points clear of the relegation zone with an impressive 4-2 triumph over Bolton Wanderers.

It was just a second win in 15 Championship games for Rotherham, but it arrived at a crucial time as Steve Evans prepares his side for a month when a number of promotion hopefuls stand in their way.

Evans is unlikely to make changes to his team, which means Matt Derbyshire and Conor Sammon are once again expected to lead the line for the visitors in the capital.

It could be an unchanged side for Charlton, too, with Sanchez Watt and Simon Church both likely to be named on the bench by Luzon.
