Scottish Premiership roundup: Celtic overtake Inverness

Celtic moved to the top of the Scottish Premiership this afternoon with a 2-0 victory over third-placed Motherwell at Parkhead.

Goals from Anthony Stokes and Kris Commons lifted the Hoops above Inverness Caledonian Thistle, who slip to second following a 4-0 hammering at St Johnstone.

Steve MacLean bagged a brace for the Saints after Steve May and David Mackay had found the net to lift them into sixth place.

Meanwhile, a second-half effort from Ross County's Rocco Quinn was enough to end Aberdeen's unbeaten run and give the hosts maximum points at Victoria Park.

Bottom club Hearts suffered a 2-0 home defeat to St Mirren, while a Nadir Ciftci strike helped Dundee United secure a 1-0 win over Kilmarnock.
